P51D_BIGDICK.zip

Vincent "MEGA" Crane

This file contains a replacement skin for Rammjager's P51Dv2 modification. It installs the P51D "Big Dick" (call for double fives in craps- notice the noseart) flown by Major Richard "Dick" Hewitt. Major Hewitt flew with the 78th FIghter Group, 82nd Fighter Squadron.

Installation
------------
Before installing this, or any other, custom modification, you are advised to make a backup of your original ww2.sqs archive. Note that Rammjager's P51Dv2 modification must be installed prior to installing this skin. This mod installs into the P51v2.sqs archive- so I'd advise backing that file up as well.

This distribution includes high resolution (512x512) textures. Older video cards may not be able to handle this higher resolution. If the high resolution version is installed on a system with an inadequate video card, a crash to desktop will likely occur during the game.

Extract the contents of this archive to the WWII Fighters\Data directory. Assuming the
default installation, this is: C:\Program Files\Jane's Combat Simulations\WWII Fighters\Data

The files will be extracted to a new directory WWII Fighters\Data\P51Dv2_BigDick.

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the WWII Fighters\Data\P51Dv2_BigDick.

To install the new skin the click the "install_P51D_bigdick..." icon.

This will open up a DOS session and the installation will proceed in this window. A message "INSTALLING P51D BIG DICK" will be displayed. When the installation is complete, a message saying "INSTALLATION OF Major Richard Hewitt's P51D COMPLETE...CLOSE DOS SESSION " will be displayed in the window. Close the DOS session by clicking on the X close button in the top right corner of the window.

Installation is now complete.

Self-published in 2000, the book has been a complete success, selling out close to two printings.
